Frequently Asked Questions

Online notary lets you legally appear in the presence of a commissioned notary over Internet video. Far more secure and easy than in-person notary, online notarization simplifies document signing.

Can a Colorado Resident use an online rather than traditional in-person notary?

Online notary is legal in Colorado pursuant to amendments to Title 24, Article 21, Part 5 of the Colorado Revised Statutes.

Colorado law also recognizes and accepts online notarizations performed by out-of-state notaries under their state rules. (see Sections 24-21-511, 38-30-126, and 38-35-105 of the Colorado Revised Statutes).

What do I need for my online notary session?

Schedule your session at a convenient time and upload each document in PDF format. You will need the following:

  • A computer or smartphone with a web browser and video.
  • A valid government-issued photo ID. (Colorado residents or US citizens can use their Colorado driver’s license or US passport. Non-US citizens or residents must have their international passport.)

Do I need to be physically in Colorado during the online notary session?

You don’t need to be in Colorado to attend an online notary session. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world because the online notarization “virtually” takes place at the notary’s location.

Will I recieve a physical copy of a document remotely notarized online?

With an online notary, you won’t receive a physical copy.  Instead, you’ll receive a digitally signed and sealed document in PDF format. Paper hard copies are not available.

Is my transaction secure?

Virtual notary services are highly secure, with strict state regulations, advanced document and communications technology, and thorough identity verification. Documents are sealed with digital signing certificates, and all online notary sessions are recorded and stored securely with detailed audit trails for transparency and accountability.

Can remote notary sign documents with multiple signers?

Yes. Remote notaries can have multiple people sign one document in a session.
